VET Connect

The Health and Community Workforce Council (Workforce Council) would once again like to express our thanks to our Industries Reference Group and industry partners who contributed to our work providing policy advice and feedback to Vocational Education and Training throughout the year so far.

Since October 2017, we have worked with stakeholders across the mental health, early childhood education and care, aged services, disability support work, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, hospital pharmacy and dental sectors, to name a few. Once again we are reminded how vast the services are and what critical contributions across health and community services our stakeholders make.

During this period we have supported industry with advice on training packages, models of delivery, quality training and resources to support skill development, and have provided connections between a variety of stakeholders to facilitate relationship building.  We partnered with industry stakeholders to provide advice to the VET Investment Plan, with recommendations on changes or inclusions to current policy.

The Workforce Council is proud to have worked with Deaf Services Queensland to see the Auslan and Interpreting pathway supported under the Queensland Training Subsidy List (QTSL), with a level of subsidy appropriate to overcome barriers to access the entire learning pathway.

The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training are finalising the detail of the next investment plan (2018-19), including outcomes of our combined advice, and the Workforce Council will provide an update as early as possible once the policy is released.

Thank you for your continued support and contributions to this important work. We are privileged to provide a voice to the Queensland human services sector.
