Skills Alliance

Skills Alliances are an initiative of the Department of Education Training and the Arts that has replaced the previous role of the Industry Training Advisory Bodies (ITABs). The Health and Community Services Workforce Council held the ITAB role for the health and community services Industries since 1992 and has now won the contract to manage the Skills Alliance project until June 2009.

The Skills Alliance will gather information and produce an Industry Skills Plan with regular updates which will provide advice on industry drivers of change and skills and workforce issues in the health and community services industries. This advice will need to capture the impact of change in work roles and functions for all parts of the workforce, including those accessing qualifications or skills in VET, universities and schools.
