Reconciliation Action Plan

The Health and Community Services Workforce Council is pleased to announce its adoption of a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

The Plan seeks to recognise and strengthen the Workforce Council's relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through positive and inclusive workforce innovation practices. Specifically, it outlines key actions to build relationships, raise cultural awareness and to improve the organisation's recruitment, retention, membership and consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The Reconciliation Action Plan is the product of over six months of dedicated efforts by Workforce Council staff, which culminated in the Plan's recent endorsement by Reconciliation Australia and approval by the Workforce Council Board.

Executive Director Wallis Westbrook said the adoption of a Reconciliation Action Plan is an important step for the Workforce Council.

"The Workforce Council values open, respectful, honest and real communication with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples; our vision for reconciliation is to recognise and strengthen our relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through positive and inclusive workforce innovation practices," Mr Westbrook said.

"This is the Workforce Council's first Reconciliation Action Plan. Our intention is to keep this initial RAP simple and achievable. During this first year we will seek advice from our Advisory Committee to develop subsequent RAPs with the aim of achieving a more aspirational approach that stretches our thinking and informs our innovation."
