Mental Health Week

In 2010 Mental Health Week will run from Sunday 10 October through to Saturday 16 October.

Mental Health Week is an annual national awareness event held in October every year. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and wellbeing in the wider community, to increase community awareness and education about mental health issues and to encourage participation in life enhancing lifestyles.

The theme for Mental Health Week 2010 in Queensland is 'Be active, get connected, stay involved'.

In Queensland, Mental Health Week is coordinated by a state planning committee, comprising representatives from Queensland Health, the Mental Health Association (Qld), Queensland Alliance, Department of Communities, and consumer, carer and non-government organisation representation.

Each year are large number of events, such as the Walk of Pride at the Roma Street Parklands, are held to celebrate the week. For more information on Mental Health Week including events in your area visit the Mental Health Association (Qld) website.
