The Health and Community Services Workforce Council's inaugural Workforce Innovation Conference and Awards were held at the Hilton Hotel, Brisbane on the 20th and 21st May, and offered an opportunity to showcase the research and practice of workforce development and innovation in the rapidly growing health and community services industries by providing a platform to explore the diversity and commonalities across these industries; creating connections, sharing knowledge and developing solutions.
During the conference presentations and workshops covering leadership, recruitment and retention, job design, collaborative workforce strategies and much more enabled participants to engage in a variety of discussions, ideas and issues.
The program was packed with exciting presentations, papers and workshops, focusing on the many aspects of workforce innovation and features four engaging keynote speakers:
Dr Caroline Alcorso: Project Manager, National Skills and Workforce Development Strategy for Skills Australia. From April 2009, she has been writing a Discussion Paper on a National Workforce Development Strategy for Skills Australia.
Dr Stephen Lundin: Best-selling author of Cats - the nine lives of innovation. Creator and co-author of FISH! and the FISH! Philosophy.
Professor Sohail Inayatullah: Political scientist/futurist and Professor at the Graduate Institute of Futures Studies, Amkang University, Taiwan and an Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of the Sunshine Coast.
Phil Corbett: Founder of Australian Business Class with over 25 years experience in business management, human resources, communications, leadership and creative thinking.
In conjunction with the conference The Health and Community
Services Workforce Council organised the Queensland Workforce
Innovation Awards. The Awards recognised good workforce
practice across health and community services in Queensland.
