Disability Action Week is a statewide public awareness week, running from 5 to 11 September and coordinated by the Department of Communities through Disability Services.
The aims of Disability Action Week are to encourage positive attitudes towards people with a disability, improve access and make our community a better place for everyone.
Throughout the week, activities will be held across the state to demonstrate the importance of changing attitudes and improving access for people with a disability. Disability Action Week activities encourage the community to focus on a person's achievements and abilities. Events highlight that diversity and difference enrich communities and that people with a disability have much to contribute to their local communities.
Disability touches the lives of most Queenslanders in some way - through the experiences we have with friends and family, at school, in the workplace and in the community.
