Carers Week

Running from October 16-22 Carers Week is Australia’s annual recognition of family carers which is celebrated by thousands of Australians who take the time to acknowledge the wonderful contribution that carers make.

Coordinated by Carers Australia and Carers Association the week seeks to raise awareness of carers, the caring role, relationships, supports and services.

Carers Australia defines a carer as a person who provides unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness or who are frail aged.

All Australians are invited to join in Carers Week celebrations which include a variety of events and activities planned across the country. For more information on what is taking place in Queensland during Carers Week visit the Carers Australia website.
