On Wednesday 17 August nearly 60 representatives from health and community services organisations in the Surat Basin region gathered in Chinchilla to explore challenges facing their industries and contribute to a workforce plan for the area.
The health, community, government, training and education sector stakeholders attended a Workforce Planning Forum hosted by rural and remote health service provider RHealth in partnership with the Health and Community Services Workforce Council (Workforce Council).
Trish Leddington-Hill from RHealth’s Chinchilla office said the feedback gathered from local services would prove invaluable in developing the Surat Basin Health and Community Services Workforce Plan.
“It was fantastic to see so many like-minded people brought together and earnestly discussing the common issues which are facing our health and community services, not only here and now, but in the years to come as well,” Ms Leddington-Hill said.
“The forum provided an excellent opportunity to identify and discuss priority issues which we can now address together.”
A Workforce Action Group comprised of several of the forum’s participants will continue to develop the Surat Basin Health and Community Services Workforce Plan which is expected to be completed by December 2011. The group’s first meeting will take place in Chinchilla on Thursday 8 September.
