Working with DCALB Families Fact Sheet
Engaging with families from Diverse Cultural and Linguistic Backgrounds (DCALB) can be challenging for Educators and families alike. There are many hurdles to overcome to ensure services and families have all the information they need to provide equitable access for DCALB families to child care. These can range from assisting children to settle, supporting families to become familiar with services' policies and procedures or navigating aspects of AMEP, CCB or JET funding.
To assist educators to support DCALB families, a group of organisations have come together to develop a Fact Sheet. Developed by Centrelink, DEEWR, PSCQ, Lifeline ISA, ACCESS, IHSS, SGP, MDA, TAFE, Browns Plains Early Years Centre and Communities for Children, the Fact Sheet aims to provide Educators with the contact information for a range of organisations that can assist Educators and DCALB families when enrolling their children into a childcare service.
Place this fact sheet in a prominent place in your service so that you have the contact information at your fingertips to assist you to support DCALB families when enrolling in your centre. If you are unsure of the role of any of these services and how they can support the transition and inclusion of children and families from Diverse Cultural and Linguistic Backgrounds, please call them and have a chat. These organisations are there to assist.
