Seniors Week 2011 will be celebrated from August 20-28, providing Queenslanders with an opportunity to honour the valuable contributions of seniors to our communities.
The week aims to promote positive attitudes towards older people and ageing, encourage older people to lead active lifestyles, and foster inter-generational relationships. The theme of this year’s Seniors Week is ‘Positively Ageless’; reinforcing the countless benefits of a positive attitude to life at any age.
Winners for the 2011 Premier’s Awards for Queensland Seniors will be announced during Seniors Week at a special event in Brisbane. The awards seek to acknowledge the time, energy, compassion and wisdom of senior volunteers in their community.
