Wanting to learn more about how to develop your own Cross Cultural work practice? Take the opportunity to gain an accredited unit of competency HLTHIR403B Work Effectively with Culturally Diverse Clients and Co-Workers from the CHCO8 Community Services Training Package. This course will equip service providers, managers and community members with the essential knowledge, attitudes and skills to develop their cultural awareness and competence. BOTH DAYS NEED TO BE ATTENDED AND ASSESSMENT TASKS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED FOR UNIT OF COMPETENCY TO BE AWARDED

 

Participants will:

  • Explore the meaning of culture and how it affects perceptions and communication
  • Develop awareness of the cultural assumptions everyone brings to each interaction
  • Explore various cultural world views
  • Understand the experience of culture shock
  • Explore cultural differences in models of service delivery
  • Develop a framework for resolving cross-cultural misunderstandings
  • Understand and manage language barriers
  • Learn when and how to use professional interpreters
  • Explore strategies to create culturally responsive workplaces and service provision environments
