About IWDS

The Integrated Workforce Development Strategy (IWDS) is a project of the Health and Community Services Workforce Council and is funded by the Queensland Department of Communities.

 

IWDS provides a range of workforce development activities that are designed to support target group organisations to attract, develop and retain a skilled workforce capable of providing high quality services to meet client needs.

 

The workforce development initiatives are targeted at the following services which are recurrently funded by the Department of Communities:

 

  • Homelessness Services (SAAP funded programs)
  • Youth Services (youth development, youth justice and youth support coordinators funded programs)
  • Family and Domestic Violence Services (FDV funded programs)
  • Family Support Services (FSP funded programs)
  • Community Development and Support (CSSP funded programs)
  • Community and Individuals Safety Initiatives including Gambling Help
  • Child Protection (referral for active intervention, residential care, foster and kinship care, supported independent living, safe houses, therapeutic residential, transitional placement, counseling, family intervention, support and reunification, Indigenous and recognised entities funded programs)
  • Diversion Services (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander diversion funded programs)
  • Seniors (Older persons assistance funded programs)

 

The Integrated Workforce Development Strategy operates on a regional decision making and capacity building model. Twelve regional Workforce Development Networks (WDN) work with the IWDS project team to prioritise workforce development needs in their regions and coordinate a range of activities to meet the needs identified.
