FAQ

  • No, the DSTF project is managed by the Health and Community Services Workforce Council Inc.

  • DSTF operates according to a regional engagement model. The state is divided into ten geographic regions, each of which is represented by a Coalition.

Ideally, each Coalition comprises eight to ten members from services funded by the Department of Communities, Disability Services as well as unpaid parents and unpaid carers. These members are also from different geographic locations, cultural backgrounds, equity groups and service types and are in diverse work-function roles.

If you would like to become a member of a regional Coalition, see regional-specific information on this process and current vacancies in your area. View current vacancies in your region.

  • Coalitions are a group of local people, generally from the target group who meet regularly to plan for the implementation of skills development and capacity building priorities for their region based on the identified needs of the target group. The Coalitions identify, prioritise and respond to the skills development needs in their region. They are the primary decision making group for the activities conducted in their region.

    The Coalitions aim to:

    • Adopt consultative, collaborative, participatory decision making processes that recognise, respect, value and include everyone in the target group. These processes consider diverse experiences, culture, ethnicity, ability and geographical locations.
    • Represent the whole target group within the entire region not individuals or individual organisations.
    • Utilise transparent processes to promote open communication between all parties.
    • Identify, prioritise, deliver and evaluate skill development needs within the region they represent.

Coalitions are supported in their work by DSTF Workforce Consultants and a Program Manager employed by the Workforce Council. Find out more about the Coalition in your region.

  • You can contact the relevant Workforce Consultant for your region to pass on your organisations workforce and skills development needs.

  • The appointment of all Coalition members needs to follow a nomination and selection process that is equitable and open. When a vacancy occurs on the Coalition, it is expected that the replacement will ensure that the Coalition membership equitably reflects the target group and the geographic region. Vacancies are promoted through training events, networks, DSTF newsletters, Workforce Council web-site and/or mail-outs. View a coalition nomination form.
