The Health Career Pathways Research Initiative is the first step in developing a model for health career pathways which will allow for multiple entry points into healthcare careers, encourage and recognise lifelong learning and the acquisition of new skills and which promotes both job satisfaction and service effectiveness. This research undertaken by the Australian Health Workforce Institute provides direction for the formulation of career pathways and generic competency framework to allow mobility within the health workforce in Queensland.
