About GCWPI

Workforce planning is most commonly undertaken within agencies and occasionally across agencies within specific sectors. This project was initiated from the recognition that, as a region, the Gold Coast has shared issues and significant challenges to meet if it is to have enough people with the right skills to deliver integrated, coordinated primary health and community services to meet community needs. The workforce plan produced as a result of this project aims to foster and resource partnerships, excellence and innovation within the primary health and community services workforce on the Gold Coast.

The key to the success of this plan is that health and community services stakeholders, across government, non-government and general practice have been included in the development of the plan and will continue to be included in its implementation. The GCWPI prioritises the inclusion of training and higher education providers and 'non-traditional' partners and has promoted the use of social media to support ongoing collaboration on workforce priorities.

The workforce plan was completed and endorsed by key stakeholders in the primary health and community services sector in July 2010. The implementation of the plan is now being lead by the GCPC Workforce Advisory Group.
