Health Workforce Leaders Group re-convenes

November saw the re-convening of the Health Workforce Leaders Group, chaired by Queensland Health and hosted by the Workforce Council.

The group was re-formed in recognition of an opportunity in Queensland to collaborate and create a simpler, more unified and responsive approach to workforce issues; issues that are driven by the future needs of the sector and that enable changing roles and practices to deliver improved models of care and service delivery.

The Health Workforce Leaders Group will act as a proactive and strategic health workforce advisory body to influence and enable collaborative and sustainable health workforce solutions.

The group also forms a key part of the governance process for the Grow Your Own Health Workforce project, a research project commissioned by Queensland Health and conducted by the Workforce Council that will deliver a comparative analysis of existing and emerging ‘grow your own workforce’ models with the intent to consider scalability and applicability in a number of environments, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and communities with high levels of unemployment.
